Because aluminium is such a strong material, aluminium window frames can be made slimmer than is possible with uPVC. The above picture of two ovolo-profile frame samples shows this difference clearly. The cream coloured uPVC frame on the right is decidedly chunkier than the white aluminium frame on the left.
As well as being a leading local installer of uPVC windows, Admiral Windows Oxford offers a choice in aluminium framed windows, with various profiles available in the full range of RAL colours.

Older generations of aluminium window frames suffered from ‘cold bridging’ – colder outside temperatures being conducted across the frames, causing heat loss and condensation inside. New aluminium windows from Admiral feature polyamide thermal breaks to insulate the interior surfaces from the colder external surfaces.

We can also supply and fit aluminium framed windows that are suitable for replacing steel framed windows in heritage applications. If you’ve ever had a quote for replacing old Crittall steel windows with new double glazed Crittall windows, you’ll know that they are NOT cheap! Our aluminium heritage steel-replacement windows come at a fraction of the cost of steel frames – and they can be made in a variety of shapes to suit unusual applications.
